Before I talk about food again.....

Les insists that I tell you about our wonderful hike on Monday, before I chat more about food. We headed off to Grabels, over familiar territory.....note the new pink pack!
One thing that was saw this time was a farmer out tending his goatherd....about 6 of them. Les asked if he could take his picture, but he wouldn't face the camera. Instead, he struck this pose.
After a nice hot coffee at the PMU (off-site gambling place), headed out of this very small town, to what I can only describe as suburbs. Some 30 newish houses on the incline. The first one was clearly a supporter of the Chemin de Compostelle.
We then started to go up on a bit of a rocky path. When we reached the top, we were met by lovely miniature crocuses and beautiful views. Straight ahead and around us was the garrigue, a dry limestone plateau. Lots of rosemary and thyme all over so the scents were wonderful. And then when we cast our eye behind us, we could see Montpellier and then to our left was the Mediterranean.
The walk into Montenaud, our goal for the day, was uneventful and very quiet. We had planned to sit, have a beer and then catch a bus home at 5. The sitting and the beer happened at the PMU, often the only thing in town in these small places. The bus, however, didn't come, so we had to wait until 6:15 and then the fare machine didn't work so the trip was free!
And for fun, we took along my garmin, so here's our log.
I think the maxiumum speed had something to do with Les picking up his pack quickly ;-)
Great day, and we feel we are ready to leave here on Sunday and fly to Portugal!
