Paris

Kathryn and I are now in Paris, walking and discovering. Our AirB&B is across from a church, above a sex shop (see pic below) and down the street from the Love Hotel, 25€ per hour. It's clean and small but not quite as advertised. For our purposes i.e., somewhere to sleep and have breakfast, it's fine, and on rue Saint Denis, so it's central to walking most places, which we do.
Yesterday, we took the train to Chartres and had a wonderful tour by Malcolm Miller. I had heard him in 2002 and the tours are all so different. He's 82 now and still immensely entertaining and knowledgable. Gives a fabulous tour although the cathedral is in the middle of several years of cleaning, inside and out. You can see clearly what has been cleaned and restored and what still has to be done.

Today we decided to walk to the Parc Bagatelle in hopes of seeing a harpist, so we walked and on the way, had coffee in the Tuileries, and sat in the sun for a bit.
And on our way up the Champs Élysées we saw a beautiful gate and a gravel path with tall hedges on each side. The gate said Abercrombie and Fitch, so we followed the path to the front door....
And then went inside, and this is just a part of the foyer.
Here's the store!
We did get to the parc, but the tickets were all sold out. We spent some time in the parc, having a snack, walking around then then headed to the metro. Over 12 kms walked today, so we are now resting before going to find dinner.
