Packing up

Well, it's been great, but all good things must end, so we are packing up and cleaning up and hoping we can get everything in the various suitcases. When we arrived last October, Montpellier had experienced terrible rains and both the Mosson River, close to us, and the Lez, flowing through town, had flooded. This is the view from early November of the river just near the apartment. You can see where the arch of the Roman bridge has been washed away because of the flooding. Too bad these Romans didn't build things to last ;-)
And today we walked by on our way to Duco's for lunch....
Same view believe it or not, but the trees are full of leaves and the river is lower. So, off we walked to Juvignac, just over a km from the apartment. When we had arrived at the end of September to park our suitcases in the garage, our hosts kindly treated us to lunch at this marvelous restaurant, with their friends Charlie and Jeanette.
Brice Ducos is one of the best chefs in town so it was fitting that we returned to this restaurant with Charlie and Jeanette, to say goodbye to them and to good food and wine. When we were here in September, Les insisted that he did not drink wine at lunch as it made him sleepy. Well, he's over that! Now, he has a glass or two of wine and takes a nap. Why didn't we think of that before? What a great solution to a huge problem.
So, I know that everyone is sick of looking at photos of food, but what I ordered was a showstopper. A brochette of Saint Jacques and gambas.......Yes, the scallops are held in place by the huge prawns and cooked to perfection!
The other three ordered the same thing....tagliatelle with fois gras. Apparently it was yummy, but I was too busy with my meal, so didn't notice.
